Respected American travel journalist Peter Greenberg will showcase Mayo and Ireland in a new travel programme called Hidden Ireland, which will air during prime time on PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) later this year to millions of people across the United States.

It's probably not the worst draw in the world, but it could have been a little more straightforward as Mayo were pulled out of the bowl first in the live draw on Radio One last Monday morning, followed closely by our first round qualifier opponents, Monaghan.

The summer season has gotten off to a sizzling start with the inaugural service to Barcelona-Girona taking off from Shannon Airport recently.

Mayo's first round qualifier opponents will be known after the draw on Radio One next Monday morning. We will all be eagerly tuned in to see who Mayo get drawn against as there are teams in there that could easily send us packing out of the championship for 2022.

John Henry Foley was one of the greatest artists this country produced in the 19th century. He was a world famous sculptor who was commissioned to produce many public works in different parts of the world including Galway. The statue he produced here was of Lord Dunkellin, a 2.5 metre high bronze on a polished Peterhead red granite base which stood on two steps of Aberdeen granite about 20 yards inside the main gate into the Square. ‘In none of the great works which have given him world-wide celebrity has he shown more genius and skill than in the present instance where, with only the slender assistance of a photograph, has he been able to produce the faithful likeness.’

But it’s no surprise that cheerleading has become such a popular sport among children, teenagers and young adults. Boys and girls flipping, throwing each other in the air and building pyramids sounds like a lot of fun!
